Metaplanet Issues $50 Million Bonds to Buy More Bitcoin • Happy Coin News

Japanese company Metaplanet will issue 8 billion Japanese yen (about $50 million) in regular interest-free bonds to finance future Bitcoin purchases.

According to statementThe bond issue was fully purchased by EVO Fund, a Cayman Islands-based investment firm that participated in previous placements. This is Metaplanet’s 20th bond issue.

In the first quarter of this year, the company acquired 5075 BTC, bringing its total holdings to 40,177 BTC as of March 31. This makes the company the third-largest holder of bitcoin in the world.

The Japanese company issued additional bonds despite posting a net loss of $619 million in its fiscal year 2025, largely due to unrealized losses from the impairment of bitcoin.

Recently, the main kriptovalyuta is gradually recovering from previous declines caused by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. According to CoinMarketCap, at the time of writing Bitcoin traded at $77,878, up 2,7% from last week.
