Billionaire Elon Musk lost his lawsuit against OpenAI, , Greg Brockman and Microsoft, as juries dismissed all of his claims.

Let us recall that during the trial in Oakland, California Mask tried to prove that the management of the company OpenAI, known for its chatbot ChatGPT, violated the purpose for which it was created. In a lawsuit filed back in 2024, the entrepreneur claimed that the company was originally founded as a “philanthropic AI lab.” Musk himself invested approximately $38 million in OpenAI because he believed it would develop AI systems “for the benefit of humanity,” not for the enrichment of individuals.

However, after his departure in 2018, the company transitioned to a business model and began making money from its products, so the company and its top managers could be held accountable. Elon Musk’s lawsuit also involved Microsoft, as the tech giant invested in OpenAI in 2019.

The billionaire’s lawyers demanded that OpenAI and Microsoft return up to $134 billion in “illegally obtained profits.” They also asked the to remove Sam Altman and Greg Brockman from management and reverse the 2025 restructuring, which “facilitated the growth of the commercial component.”

The defendants disputed Musk’s allegations, while OpenAI claimed he sought control of the company. The jury, which returned its verdict in just two hours, also disagreed with the entrepreneur’s arguments. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers upheld the verdict. Musk now has the right to appeal.
