Over the past 24 hours, the Worldcoin (WLD) price has risen by approximately 12%. However, despite the strong intraday rebound, the digital asset remains trading significantly below its level at the beginning of the year.
Worldcoin’s rise occurred without a clear catalyst, but derivatives markets were likely the primary driver of the uptrend. In one day, inflows into perpetual futures totaled $78,5 million, accounting for over 30% of the total open interest, which reached $253,4 million. Such a large inflow into leveraged products indicates that traders are aggressively betting on growth.
However, spot market activity suggests a more cautious approach. Since April 12, net outflows have amounted to $1,49 million, following a $1,58 million selloff the previous week. This capital outflow suggests that spot market participants continue to reduce their positions despite the recent price surge.
At the moment, Worldcoin’s price growth appears to be largely driven by derivatives dynamics rather than strong spot market demand. Without sustained buying activity in the spot market, the current trend could peter out in the very near future.
The token’s upward momentum would have played into the hands of cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun if his 544 million WLD hadn’t been locked up. His numerous public Contacting the Worldcoin team have not yet yielded any results.
