- Visitors to the event At Mar-a-Lago, Trump made many optimistic statements.
- One of them is his willingness to promptly sign the CLARITY Act, of course, after it’s placed on his desk. That’s precisely where the problems lie.
Just hours before attending another event at the White House, where he had to be evacuated due to gunfire, US President Donald Trump acted with a 45-minute keynote speech at his own memecoin event in Mar-a-Lago.
According to attendees, he spoke about several important current topics, including the war in Iran, Joe Biden, and the CLARITY Act.
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act of 2025, introduced by the House Financial Services and Agriculture Committees last June, passed the House and moved to the Senate Banking Committee, where it has encountered numerous delays as stakeholders continue to squabble over certain regulations, particularly stablecoin yields.
Among the key differences is the division of jurisdiction between the CFTC and the SEC, with the former regulating digital goods and the latter regulating investment contracts (tokens sold through securities offerings). There are also plans to strengthen protections. DeFi, regulating centralized intermediaries rather than software developers or decentralized protocols.
The most controversial issue has been the regulation of stablecoins and their potential profitability. Bankers call it dangerous due to the outflow of deposits, while crypto experts consider the bill discriminatory against new instruments using digital currencies.
Regardless of the conflict of interest, US President Donald Trump remains optimistic about the bill’s swift passage, and speaking at an event in Mar-a-Lago, he said he would “sign it immediately” once the document was on his desk.
