Compass Mining Sued Over Loss of Bitcoin Mining Machines • Happy Coin News

Customers are suing for more than $2 million for fraud after the company cut ties with Russian hosting company and failed to return ASICs to customers, citing US sanctions.

According to the complaint filed on January 17, Compass has not offered to return the assets or compensate them for their value. Moreover, all claims about sanctions as the main obstacle to return are false.

The court document emphasizes that Compass has “both the right and the obligation to return its customers’ miners.”

Given that Compass representatives told clients that they were unable to conduct any business relations with BitRiver, they independently contacted the Russian company.

From a legal standpoint, BitRiver’s contract is with Compass, and all equipment is owned by Compass. Therefore, you should contact Compass directly with any questions, they replied in BitRiver, noting its readiness to fulfill the agreement.

In this regard, the lawsuit notes that Compass should have simply told BitRiver that they were acting as intermediaries, and the machines were paid for by customers and belonged only to them.

The plaintiffs also argued that Compass’s promise of a «95% uptime rate» of its machines was inaccurate, but that in reality the rate hovered «around 50-60%.» In some cases, miners were offline for weeks or even months.
