Apple is undergoing major changes: effective September 1, 2026, Apple CEO Tim Cook will no longer hold this position and will become executive chairman of the company’s board of directors.
John Ternus, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, will become the new CEO following unanimous approval by the Board of Directors. Tim will continue to participate in company policy discussions.
According to statement At Apple, this transition was the result of a long-term succession process approved by the board of directors.
In announcing his appointment, Cook called Ternus a “visionary” with “the mind of an engineer, the soul of an innovator, and the drive to lead with integrity and dignity.” Ternus called Cook a “mentor” and expressed optimism about the next phase of Apple’s development.
Tim Cook has led Apple since 2011, succeeding co-founder Steve Jobs. During his tenure at Apple, expanded range of its products and services, and the company’s market value grew from $350 billion to $4 trillion.
