Stablecoin owner and billionaire Christopher Harborne gave politician Nigel Farage £5 million ($6,7 million) shortly before the Reform UK leader backtracked on his claims that he did not plan to stand in the country’s 2024 general election.

In May 2024, Farage announced that he would not stand for parliament, but by July of that year he said he would stand in the Clacton constituency.

In The Guardian newspaper Wrote, that shortly before his seemingly spontaneous decision to stand for election, Farage received a generous gift from Harborne.

The generous donation was never reported, as it’s not required by law, and it was made before Farage announced his intention to run for parliament. As you can imagine, there’s nothing to criticize.

Before The Guardian report Farage опубликовал An article in The Telegraph titled “Farage: My house was set on fire,” in which he said Harborne had given him money to keep the politician safe for the rest of his life.

Farage explained that Harborne was deeply concerned about his safety and was well aware of the government’s lack of funding to protect the lives and property of lawmakers. Perhaps this was why Farage once had his own house set on fire.

“I’d rather not talk about this at all,” he told The Telegraph, “but I have to because someone has obtained material about my personal finances, which is outrageous. I believe these materials were obtained illegally.”

Harborne is a wealthy crypto investor who also invests in aviation and defense companies. He owns significant blocks of shares и TetherOver the past seven years, he donated more than £22 million ($29 million) to Reform UK.

Interestingly, in 2025 Farage was advertising Tether on a British talk show a month after Harborne donated £9 million to Reform UK.
