President Donald Trump confirmed, who plans to attend a private gala for the largest holders of the Official Trump (TRUMP) coin at Mar-a-Lago, despite his participation in the event previously being in doubt.
The meeting, scheduled for Saturday, April 25, at Trump’s Florida residence, will be open only to the 297 largest TRUMP token holders, with the 29 largest investors receiving access to a private reception with the president.
When the event was announced in March, a White House spokesman said Politico reported that it was not on Trump’s schedule and would take place on the same day that Trump said he would attend the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington for the first time as president.
At the time, the event’s organizers doubted it would take place, stating that Trump “may not come” and the meeting “could be cancelled for any reason.”
American lawmakers also disliked the idea of the US president’s participation in a crypto project. Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal, and Adam Schiff even questioned the event’s structure.
Despite all these obstacles, some large TRUMP holders increased their holdings in the lead-up to lunch. One investor, for example, transferred over 105,000 meme tokens from Binance, bringing his total holdings in TRUMP to approximately $1,13 million (about $3,2 million).
The TRUMP coin reacted weakly to the news of the upcoming event. According to According to CoinMarketCap, it has risen 0,7% in the last 24 hours and is now trading at $2,87.
