US-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has introduced a new lending feature for cryptocurrency users in the UK. press release, published by the platform, the new feature allows users to borrow USD Coin (USDC) backed by their Bitcoin, ETH, or cbETH.
Morpho’s credit system, based on Coinbase’s Base network, is billed as incredibly fast. The service allows you to receive cash in less than a minute without having to sell your cryptocurrency.
The lending feature can be accessed directly in the Coinbase app by selecting the “Borrow” option. Users can then select the cryptocurrency they wish to use as collateral and the amount of USDC they wish to borrow. Bitcoin-backed loans allow users to borrow up to 5 million USDC, depending on the amount of BTC they provide as collateral.

Interestingly, there is no fixed repayment schedule, but borrowers risk foreclosure if the loan-to-collateral ratio exceeds certain thresholds.
This latest innovation is part of Coinbase’s efforts to expand its presence in the UK. The exchange team stated that it aims to become the preferred platform for investing, saving, and even borrowing funds in the country.
